To all Fellow Norfolk Southerners who support the United Way,

     In a year where natural disasters – fires, floods and, most notably, hurricanes, have dominated the headlines it would be easy to lose sight of significant needs right here around Norfolk. Fortunately, the United Way of South Hampton Roads has an unwavering focus on those in need in our neighborhood.
     Whether it’s getting children off to a strong start in life, supporting military families during deployment or after they’ve served, or helping the disabled and elderly to live comfortably and productively, the United Way provides guidance and aid to individuals and programs that improve society for all of us. Out in front or behind the scenes, the United Way supports the services that we all know are necessary, but which none of us could make happen on our own.
     The financial contributions of the Norfolk Southern team – you and me – is what powers the United Way’s success. Norfolk Southern has a long history of support for the United Way of South Hampton Roads; our corporate and individual donations have exceeded $1 Million dollars for each of the last four years. With your support, I am confident that the 2019 campaign will be our most successful ever – enabling the United Way of South Hampton Roads to continue to make a difference in our community.
